Physiotherapy has been traditionally thought of as a treatment modality for individuals with chronic pain and dysfunction. However, recent research has indicated that physiotherapy can be beneficial for a range of populations beyond those traditionally considered. In recent years, Physiotherapy Ottawa has partnered with Operation Volunteers, a non-profit organization that provides free physical therapy to veterans and military members who have been injured while serving their country. Through Operation Volunteers, Physiotherapy Ottawa has been able to provide physical therapy to a large number of veterans and military members living in Ottawa and eastern Ontario. In 2016, PTO and Operation Volunteers provided physical therapy to over 1000 individuals. Physiotherapy Ottawa and Operation Volunteers are combining their resources to provide physical therapy to even more veterans and military members in Ottawa and eastern Ontario. This partnership is having a positive impact on the physical and mental health of these individuals.
